INFORMATION FOR AUTHORS


The journal, VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCUIAR SURGERY, publishes original articles and case reports relating to any phase of vascular diseases, including diagnostic methods, therapeutic procedures, operative techniques, clinical and laboratory research.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION: A manuscript submitted for ublication in VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY Will e entered into the editorial peer-review process with the understanding that it is submitted solely to this Journal and that no substantial portion of it has been published, or is being submitted elsewhere.

Submit three identical copies of the manuscript, complete with illustrations (see Illustrations and Photos), along with a 3.5-inch computer disk, prepared with any major Windows or Macintosh word processing software program. ASCII (text only) file, Windows or Macintosh, is also acceptable. Please label disk to indicate software program, and version used.

TRANSMITTAL LETTER: The manuscript is to be accompanied by a covering letter which states: (1) all the authors have read and approved the final manuscript; (2) the full name, address, phone and fax number of the individual to whom correspondence concerning the manuscript is to be sent.

COPYRIGHT STATEMENT: In conformance with the Copyright Revision Act of 1978, the following statement signed by all authors must be part of the transmittal letter:

  "In consideration of VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY'S taking action in reviewing and editing this submission, the undersigned author(s) or their duly authorized agent, hereby transfers, assigns or otherwise conveys all copyright ownership to Westminster Publications, Inc. in the event that such work is published in VASCULAR AND ENDOVASCULAR SURGERY"

Where the senior author transmits the manuscript, it may be stated that he is conveying the copyright on behalf of his coauthors.

MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION: Type the manuscript double-spaced throughout, with one-inch margins, on bond paper, 8 1/2 x 11 inches (22 cm x 28 cm).

TEXT: Manuscripts will generally be divided into the following sections: title page, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, conclusion, acknowledgments, references, figure legends, figures and tables. For guidance in text preparation, authors should consult the American Medical Association Manual of Style. Abbreviations must be spelled out on first use.

TITLE PAGE: The title page should include the following: (1) the full title of the manuscript; (2) the full name of each author, including his highest earned degree; (3) the institutional affiliation of each author together with the city and state; (4) acknowledgment of the source(s) of support for study, if any; (5) the full name and address of the author to whom correspondence should be sent.

ILLUSTRATIONS AND PHOTOS: Submit the most original artwork available (three copies). High quality laser prints are also acceptable. Prints should be submitted in black and white. Do not place tones of any kind behind graphs or charts. Color artwork can be published only at the author's expense.

All illustrations should be identified and numbered using arabic numerals. Identify top of illustration with up arrow. Also label illustration with author's name. All legends for figures should be typed on a separate sheet.

If illustrative material which has been previously published is to be included with the manuscript, it is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to use this material.

TABLES: Number tables in the text in consecutive order using roman numerals. Type each table double-spaced on separate pages. Each table should have a title and each column properly identified. All abbreviations used should be expressed as a footnote to the table. Do not use internal vertical type material.

REFERENCES: References should include only articles cited in the text. They should be consecutively numbered as they appear in the text. When a reference contains more than three authors, list only the first three authors followed by "et al." After the author's listing supply the full title of the manuscript in lower case (except where a capital is required), the journal title abbreviated according to Index Medicus, the volume number, the inclusive pages and the year of publication. Book references should include: authors, chapter title, book title, editors, place of publication, publisher, year of publication, and page numbers.

STATUS OF MANUSCRIPT: The receipt of your manuscript by the Journal will be acknowledged and a decision regarding its status made as soon as possible. All manuscripts are subject to editorial review.

One set of page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author for review prior to publication.

REPRINTS: Reprints of a manuscript are available to authors at specially reduced rates and may be purchased by completing the reprint order form which will accompany the proofs.
